Sugar is NOT a whole food
Of all the foods we eat, sugar is one of the most harmful and there are many reasons for avoiding it.
The sugar we usually eatis not a whole food but rather the extract of a tropicazl plant that has been processed with chemicals and bleached "white" with a chemicalized solution that uses pork by-products (blood albumin and/or animal charcoal). When we eat sugar our body's automatic response is to swallow it with out chewing it.
There are over 150 billion pounds of sugar consumed worldwide. America is the largest consumer of sugar worldwide. Americans consume more than 31 billion pounds of sugar each year. That breaks down to about 125 pounds a year per man, woman and child.
What sugar does to the body
Sugar is extemely alkaline. When we swallow it the stomach is paralized for one to three minutes by the shock it produces on our system. In reaction to this strong alkaline substance, the stomach secretes a tremendous amount of acid in an attempt to neutralize it. ( Potentially creating acid indigestion, this being just one one many problems).
When the sugar leaves the stomach it takes this excess acid with it and enters the duodenum ( small intestine) still in an undigested form. Because of this acid, the duodenum lets it pass through again without neutralizing it and consequently it goes on to pollute the rest of the body.
In order to digest sugar the intestines have to draw on the mineral reserves in the body and this produces tooth decay, hair falling out and weak bone structure. ( it might be interesting for you to know that the condition of the teeth is a good indication of the condition of the entire skeleton.) In addition, since a grat deal od oxegen is consumed during this process, there is a shortage of oxegen in the brain and consequently the mental capacity is reduced.
When the sugar reaches the blood stream even more problems arise. Our pancreas is designed to deal only with natural sugars. When it encounters a substance as powerful as refined sugar one of two things can happen. Since it is the function of the pancreas toneutralize sugar, there is a panic reactin and a great deal of insulin is secreated. If the pancreas is weak and this condition continues diabetes may develop. In most cases, however, the pancreas is strong enough to remain operative and it secreates too much insulin. This neutralizes most of the sugar in the blood. The result is hypoglycemia-- know as low blood sugar, a condition many Americans have.
Refined sugar has been known for many centuries to be addictive and health damaging. It can make its subjects weak, tiard and even mentally imbalanced, but people still desire to eat or drink this sweet.
Sugar Robs the Body of Nutrients
Sugar has a trememdous amount of carbonic acid which disturbs the nutrition balance in the body. Sugar robs the body of almost all nutrients, especially the minerals chromium, zinc and calcium and vitamins C and B-complex. Sugar destroys food digestive enzymes in the mouth, the stomach, the small intestines and the pancreas. It also reduces the amount of hyrochloric acid ( a nessessary digestive aid ) in the stomach. Without enoufg hydrochloric acid the food isn't broken down properly. Therefore we can't properly absorb the nutrients.
Sugar moves very slowly out of the stomach. This causes all foods to ferment ( or decay) in the stomach. This creates over-acidic condition in the stomach which influences the secretion of enzymes and hydrochloric acid to help digest our food. This over acidic condition affects the entire body. Such diseases as cancer, diabetes, high blood-sugar and other diseases can result from eating too many highly acidic foods ( rather foods that create an acidic environment in the body)
Some other intersting facts about sugar
* Sugar is a nutritionally bankrupt substance, meaning it is a non-food item that only contributes to calories.
*100 bounds of sugar is equal to 57 pounds of body fat (just about what many people have in excess weight)
*One of the major problems with sugar is that it is presentin almost all perpared foods. Some items are : cereals, Ketchup, canned foods, frozen foods, bouillon cubes, non-dairy creamer, pizza and even tooth paste.
*The process of making sugar from cane is slightly different then that of the sugar beets. Both processes use considerable amounts of water. Both heat the sugar and add calcium hydroxide (lime) which is a toxin to the body. This removes the "impurities" or those ingredients that interfere with sugar processing. Both use carbon dioxide (another toxin) to remove the lime and then it's not all removed.
*Several grades of sugar--There is a "grade" of sugar that is the common sugar in the bag or table sugar. Then there is another grade of sugar which is used in processed foods (e.g. cakes, ice cream, candy, soft drinks and bakery products.
*Sugar is used for non-food purposes such as making plastics, cement mixing and leather tanning.
*Sugar is used in some medicines.
*Allergic reactions are common among people who eat sugar.
